45 of the world’s top 250 contracting firms are Turkish

The Ministry of Trade made a written statement regarding the “Top 250 International Contracting Firms List” for 2025 by the construction industry magazine ENR.

Despite all the global market adversities, it was emphasized that representatives of the Turkish overseas contracting sector have once again secured leading positions in the global league, confirming the international success of the Turkish contracting sector.

### 45 of the world’s top 250 contracting firms are Turkish

The statement recalled that 43 Turkish firms were on ENR’s 2024 list, and “In the 2025 list, the number of Turkish firms has risen to 45, marking a record achievement. With 76 firms, China ranks first in the number of firms, followed by Turkey in second place with 45 firms. In 2024, the value of international projects undertaken by 45 Turkish contracting firms was realized as 20.8 billion dollars.”

It was noted that the share of works undertaken by Turkish contractors in the total project volume of 250 firms on the list was 4.2%, and that based on international project values, the Turkish contracting sector ranks 9th in the world ahead of the Netherlands, Sweden, and Germany.

### 8 Turkish firms are in the top 100

The statement indicated that Chinese firms led the total project volume ranking with 127.4 billion dollars, and “In the 2025 list, 8 Turkish firms managed to enter the top 100 firms. Two of them are among the top 50 firms, further strengthening Turkey’s prestige in the international contracting sector. The global construction sector is going through a tough period due to regional conflicts, supply chain problems, inflation, and labor shortages. According to 2024 data, the total project volume of the world’s top 250 international contracting firms reached 501.2 billion dollars with only a 0.5% increase. Political uncertainties, rising labor and land costs have made investors cautious, while rising input costs continue to pressure the sector.”

It was also pointed out that ENR magazine announced the results of the “Top 225 International Technical Consultancy Firms List,” where 8 Turkish technical consultancy firms appeared again this year.

Turkey, in terms of the number of firms, rose one rank from last year to 6th place along with Spain, behind the USA, China, Italy, South Korea, and Japan.

### Turkish firms undertook 544.9 billion dollars worth of projects

The statement highlighted that the overseas activities of the Turkish contracting sector, which began in 1972, have maintained their momentum and advanced further, stating:

“To date, Turkish companies have undertaken 12,641 contracting projects worth over 544.9 billion dollars in 137 countries worldwide. Additionally, about 3,053 international technical consultancy projects worth approximately 3.6 billion dollars have been carried out in 138 different countries. We will continue to use all instruments of commercial diplomacy with the relevant countries to enable our overseas contracting and technical consultancy firms to undertake new projects and resolve the problems they face in international markets.

Especially in important markets such as Libya, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, we support our sector through bilateral contacts and trade delegations. In the upcoming period, we will continue our efforts for our sector to play an active role in the reconstruction processes of Ukraine and Syria. Moreover, through cooperation programs jointly conducted with countries like the UK and Japan, we strive to provide our sector both access to new markets and project financing opportunities.
