It is noteworthy that the new center of attention or the biggest fear of the colonialist Zionist regime, which has committed the most brutal genocide in history in Gaza and left no country in the region unattacked, is our fledgling homeland, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The founding fathers of Zionism also showed interest in Cyprus. In fact, at the beginning of the 20th century, Zionists who had their eyes on Palestine, tens of thousands of Jews from all over the world flocked to Cyprus after the Balfour Declaration of 1917, when Britain decided to make Palestine a Jewish homeland. They were flocking to Cyprus under British rule because Palestine was under Ottoman rule. However, after the end of the World War and the Ottoman withdrawal from Palestine, the Jews who had previously come to Cyprus began to flock to Palestine in droves.
Cyprus has been on the agenda again recently. Cyprus, which has been on the agenda in the past years with the significant land purchases and housing projects of Jews, stands out this time not as a center of attraction for Zionist Israel, but as an island of fear and threat.
Türkiye’s strategy to put an end to the de facto occupation of Cyprus by Jews through land purchases has caused great discomfort in the Zionist Israeli regime. But this is not Israel’s real bellyache about Cyprus. It is much deeper. It is more about the future than the past. After Gaza, Israel attacked Lebanon, Yemen, Iran and Syria, and its biggest concern is to confront Türkiye in the Middle East. Because they see a great Türkiye as the biggest obstacle in front of the Greater Israel project.
Türkiye’s Rise, Israel’s Decline
Israel, which has been closely following Türkiye’s recent moves in the field of defense, has seen all of its projects to encircle Türkiye in the Eastern Mediterranean through Cyprus backfire. All the scenarios of Israel, which tried to intimidate Türkiye by forming alliances with France, the UAE, Egypt, the US, Greece and Greek Cypriot Cyprus, collapsed. Actors such as France, Egypt, the US and the UAE are now acting with Türkiye. France recently shocked Israel by announcing that it would recognize the State of Palestine. The US left Israel alone by withdrawing from the anti-Türkiye EASTMED project.
At the moment, Israel is left with Greece and Greek Cyprus. Paying special attention to these two actors, Israel is also monitoring everything that happens in Cyprus, which is under Turkish control. Israel, which closely monitors every step Türkiye takes in the TRNC, is so deeply concerned that some Jewish writers have even started talking about emergency operations with the Greeks and Greeks to liberate the northern part of the island from the Turks.
These calls are not without reason. Türkiye’s military, strategic, intelligence and political moves in the TRNC are giving the Zionists anxiety. This is why they are obsessed with the TRNC.
“TRNC is now an Israeli problem”
Finally, Shay Gal from Israel Hayom newspaper warns the Zionist regime about the impending danger in his article titled “Northern Cyprus is also an Israeli problem”. What I understood from Gal’s article, who is the Vice President of Foreign Relations of Israel Aerospace Industries, is as follows… For years, Israel, backed by regional countries, the US and Europe, has tried to encircle Türkiye in the Eastern Mediterranean and squeeze it in Cyprus. But it seems that the tables have turned. Now, Türkiye has surrounded Israel, which has been left alone, from all four sides through the TRNC. It is giving Israel a nightmare with the modern weapons, missiles and UCAVs deployed on the island. In a way, the traumatized Zionist regime feels the cold breath of death on its neck.
Gal, who knows no bounds in his slander against Türkiye, resorts to the manipulation that Northern Cyprus functions as an international neutral zone providing unlimited operational freedom to Hamas and Iran’s Quds Force.
But this is not his main concern. His real problem is revealed in the following lines… “The TRNC is now the forward base of the Turkish military and hosts advanced weapon systems, cyber surveillance and signals intelligence (SIGINT) infrastructure capable of intercepting both military and civilian Israeli communications…”
UCAV and Missile Bases: A New Threat to Israel from the TRNC
Türkiye has turned Geçitkale Airport (Lefkoniko) in Famagusta into a UCAV base. Bayraktar TB2 UCAVs have been stationed there since 2021. Akıncı UCAVs have also been on the island since 2024. They are used for surveillance and are equipped to target Israeli gas drilling rigs, navy ships and strategic areas in the event of a crisis.
One of our weapons that scares Israel the most is the advanced ATMACA anti-ship missiles. With a range of more than 200 km when launched from the TRNC, ATMACAs have the capacity to paralyze the Israeli navy. Israel’s doomsday is seen as the TAYFUN missile. With a range of 800 km when launched from both the TRNC and Türkiye, it is capable of destroying targets at any distance in Israel. According to Western intelligence services, the missile bases in Kyrenia and Famagusta are ready to be deployed, ready to host TAYFUN. “This is Türkiye’s first direct ballistic threat to Israel, with the ability to strike Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and the Haifa Bay,” Gal said, expressing his fear.
As a solution, Gal recommends that Israel, in coordination with Greece and Cyprus, prepare an emergency operation to liberate the north of the island. The operation would be called “Poseidon’s Wrath”. This would allow Israel to “neutralize Turkish reinforcements in the homeland, eliminate air defense systems in northern Cyprus, destroy intelligence and command centers, and ultimately eliminate Turkish forces and restore internationally recognized Cypriot sovereignty.”
It is a parable of the hungry chicken and the millet barn. Israel sees that no matter what it does, it cannot stop Türkiye. All of its strategies to get Russia to abandon the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant Project have backfired. It will be difficult from now on. Especially the siege from the TRNC will increase even more in the new period and reach dimensions that will paralyze Israel in every aspect. The trend shows this.
