Latest news from Türkiye earthquake

One day after two massive earthquakes with 7.7 and 7.6 gratitudes respectively, Türkiye’s struggle with the devastating damage continues.  Turkish civil protection body AFAD has sent tens of thousands of volunteers it previously trained to 10 cities that was hit heavily by the earthquake.

While all damaged sites have been accessed, there is a shortage of rescue equipment, agencies say. Meanwhile, tens of countries have started to send their rescue teams for help.

Straturka has learned that people fear to stay at home due to likely new quakes. Almost all houses have been more or less damaged. Turkish people, NGOs and government have launched campaigns for help. A huge amount of cash and asset help is expected to be gathered.

AFAD has announced that almost 4000 people have been killed during the earthquake. However, since many people are still under ruins of collapsed houses, the final death toll may pass 20.000.
