Libyan army strikes deal with Turkish aerospace TUSAŞ

The Libyan army has signed the protocol of the final contract inked between the Libyan side and the Turkish aerospace company (TUSAŞ).

A statement by the General Staff of the Libyan Army said the contract allows TUSAŞ to supply the Libyan Air Force with several modern training aircraft of types (Hürkuş-C).

The contract was signed on the Libyan side by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Major General Muhammad Gojil, in the presence of a high-level delegation from TUSAŞ and an airforce technical committee supervising the deal.

With its four external hardpoints, the aircraft can carry a payload capacity of 1,500 kilograms, which can be used to perform close ground support missions, in addition to the ability to carry laser-guided missiles and Mizrak anti-tank missiles.

Hürkuş-C is also equipped with an advanced FLIR device from Turkish defense corporation Aselsan and has a maximum speed of (574) km per hour.

The US magazine, Defense News, quoted experts in the training aircraft industry as saying that the aircraft Hürkuş-C will challenge the Brazilian Embraer EMB 314 Super Tucano and the Archangel IOMAX aircraft in the long term.
