Closure of consulates: Türkiye is under a psychological warfare, says Turkish Interior Minister

US and several European countries closed their embassies or consulates in Türkiye due to security reasons. The closure was assumed by Turkish government as a psychological warfare.

Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said in a press statement regarding the temporary closure of some embassies and consulates in Türkiye for security reasons that “In a day where we set a target of 60 million tourists, and on a day when we announced that we have achieved a tourism income of 46 billion dollars, they launched a new psychological war against Türkiye.”  Minister Soylu said, “15 people were detained and 5 people were arrested. An intelligence officer offered employment to several people in Türkiye, and Türkiye followed suit. This intelligence officer sold  his intelligence to a country. The Republic of Turkey knows who that intelligence officer is and for whom he works.”
