For decades, the Israeli lobby has exercised disproportionate influence on America’s political and social fabric. This has been abused to promote Islamophobia, and silence criticism against America’s disastrous Middle Eastern policies. Now, as Israel’s genocidal actions become more apparent than ever, the US government has broadened its suppression of freedom of speech to include major universities.
Long considered bastions of freethinking, liberal universities in America have been targeted by the Trump administration under the frequently used-and-abused guise of anti-Semitic hate speech. Criticism of Israeli government policy or Zionist ideology is now prohibited in Harvard University, for example, after Trump froze $2.2 billion in federal grants, and blocked international student enrollment. It must be stated: criticizing a foreign government’s policy isn’t racist, nor is criticizing an ideology. Criticism of Israel’s daily murder of roughly a hundred Gaza civilians (70% of which are women and children), isn’t antisemitism, it’s a moral obligation.
By suppressing Americans’ ability to debate a crime which their taxes are enabling, Israel and its Zionist allies have not only violated US civil liberties, they have destroyed America’s worldwide reputation, impaired the functioning of democracy, and hijacked US foreign policy. More than a black moral stain on US history, more than a gargantuan waste of US treasury and blood, the continued support of Israel is now blocking America’s ability to deal with true threats, such as China’s rise.
While Trump’s fallout with Netanyahu is well documented, outside the White House, the US Senate and Congress are still firmly under Zionist control. Israeli influence is cemented through AIPAC, which appoints Israeli minders to US politicians, and requires them to undertake a pilgrimage to Israel. More sinister, the Jeffrey Epstein incident revealed how many of the US political elite are involved in a human trafficking and pedophilia ring involving Mossad associates. No doubt, Israeli leverage extends beyond political lobbying- blackmailing politicians is part of their standard operating procedure.
Unless the Trump administration recognizes the existential threat posed by Zionism, and ceases its unconditional support of Israeli crimes, America will remain paralyzed and unable to reorient itself to a rapidly changing world.
