History will likely regard the Gaza Peace Summit as the foundation of the new Middle East. The signatories of the Gaza peace deal are its future guarantors: Türkiye, Egypt, Qatar, and the US. These nations will also serve as the region’s new leaders. Prior to the signing ceremony, which was attended by European and other world leaders, Netanyahu’s attempt to insinuate himself into the meeting was rebuffed by Erdoğan, highlighting Türkiye’s superior position relative to Israel. Netanyahu’s absence was also a harbinger of his impending political end. Saudi and Emirati leaders were either not invited, or kept away due to their diminished status. Iran was absent and irrelevant, since its regional presence has been invalidated through peace, and its proxy network collapsed.
Gaza, envisioned even a year ago as being ethnically cleansed to make way for a “new Dubai”, and as a central link in IMEC (India, Middle East, Europe Economic Corridor), will instead be defended by a renamed Hamas, Turkish, possibly Pakistani forces, and a Palestinian leadership as opposed to Tony Blair. This represents a catastrophic defeat for Israel, India, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Greece, and other malign actors seeking to subjugate Islamic heritage, and destroy democratic movements.
This moment was realized through Türkiye’s steadfast dedication to Palestinians (giving it credibility with Hamas), its years-long rapprochement with Egypt, its resistance to being coerced or incited into joining a geopolitical block (thus maintaining a unique mediator role), its martial and technological prowess (preventing the enemy from prevailing through force of violence), and wise choice to side with the people of the region, as opposed to international creditors and Zionist cartel structures. In short, the survival of the Palestinian people, and shocking reversal of Zionism’s century-long encroachment, was a masterclass in geopolitics by Erdoğan. Egypt, despite its powerful fleet and important location, has been subjected to mistreatment by Israel and the UAE for years. By pivoting to work with Türkiye, it has suddenly boosted its status to holding Israel’s reins.
The US is clearly delegating influence to powerful regional actors, so that it may summon all its strength for an upcoming confrontation with China. The Zionist lobby tried to position Israel as the future regional leader, but its genocidal ambitions met more than their match, and now the US is rapidly divesting itself of the hindrance that Israel represents. The coming years will see an increasing rejection of Zionism worldwide, and the collapse of its pillars of power (pro-Israeli Arab Dictators, India’s Hindutva movement, rightwing European movements).
