Iran’s face-saving theatre ends

Iran attacked Israel with drones and missiles yesterday. As a response to Israel’s strike on Iranian embassy in Damascus, around 300 missiles and drones were launched from Iran. The arrival of drones took 8 hours, which facilitated their interception and destruction.

The US and Israel together prevented a major damage on Israeli targets. As of morning, no Israelis are reported to be killed or injured. No physical damage was also reported.

Iran’s attack was not taken seriously by analysts who study Tehran’s foreign policy. In line with their expectations, the attack did not go beyond a face-saving theatral game. Even photos used were not of yesterday’s attack.

Iran did the same for taking revenge of assassination of Kassem Suleimani. Before attacking US base in Erbil, Iranian officials informed Americans that they will attack empty lands surrounding the base.

Iran is blamed for attacking only Muslim countries and communities which are relatively weak. It never targeted US or Israeli forces since the proclamation of the Islamic revolution in 1979.

Analsyts argue that Iran’s last uninfluential attack will help Israel to further look victim, which will lead more Western support.
