Israel has conducted an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities and simultaneously killed top military officials. Iranian army officially confirmed that Major General Gholamali Rashid Major, General Hossein Salami (IRGC Commander) Major General Mohammad Bagheri (Chief of Staff), Ali Shamikhani, a senior advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader and who was involved in nuclear talks, and many other generals and at least 10 nuclear scientists.
Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei has named Admiral Habibollah Sayyari new Chief of Staff of Army. Israeli government has stated that attacks will continue in coming days. There has been no response from Iranian army as of morning.
US President Trump has said they will defend Israel if Iran attacks. He denied that US involved in last night’s attack.
Iran’s military losses came as a surprise to many people. Analysts say Iran lost all of its top commanders within one hour, reminding how Hezbollah leaders were eliminated by Israel.
Whether Iran will recover quickly and balance Israel in the war is less likely, analysts add.
