A few Turkish media outlets have announced to stop operating, blaming Google Algorithm for not diverting readers to their websites.
However, the basic reason is estimated to be the cut of American funds supplied by USAID. Outlets’ closure indeed coincides with Trump’s decision to freeze funding to USAID.
So many Türkiye-based leftist websites are allegedly getting USAID funds. While all pretend to be anti-American, they don’t criticize American policies and call themselves as independent media despite being funded by foreign institutions.
Funded media also staunchly supports LGBT, feminist and minority movements while continuously insulting Turkish government.
USAID is known as the key global destabilizing agent, secretly funding NGOs, political parties and media that clash with anti-American governments.
