Türkiye’s prestigious defense exhibition has started in Istanbul and will end on Saturday.
The staggering news came from Turkish missile producer Roketsan. Introducing six new products, the state-owned company made its biggest surprise by unveiling Türkiye’s first ever hypersonic missile Tayfun Block 4. With at least 800 and perhaps 1800 km range, Tayfun B4 has 750 kg warhead, while weighting 7.2 tons in total. Tayfun B4’s speed is estimated to be 6-8 machs. Analysts argue no defensive missiles or domes can stop such a fast missile. Tayfun B4 is in mass production phase and will be in inventory by the end of the year.
Roketsan also surprised visitors by introducing Gökbora air to air missile, developed for jets. Its range is 100 miles (185 kms), Roketsan officials stated. Gökbora will be the equivalent of France-made Meteor missile.
Other Turkish companies are also expected to unveil their new weapons during IDEF 2025.
