Ministry of National Defense sources reported that Syria has officially requested Turkey’s support.
At the press briefing held at the Ministry of National Defense (MND), MND sources made statements on the agenda.
Speaking at the meeting, Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, Press and Public Relations Advisor of the Ministry of National Defense, answered questions.
Upon questions about the clashes in the Syrian city of Suveyda and Israel’s attacks on Damascus, Aktürk said the following:
“The recent intensified Israeli attacks have increased tensions between the Druze community and the Damascus administration, especially in the southern region of Suweida. Turkey maintains its determined stance to protect Syria’s territorial integrity, ensure stability and fight against terrorist organizations.
As the Ministry of National Defense, we are working in close cooperation with the new Syrian government. The Syrian government has officially requested Turkey’s support to strengthen Syria’s defense capacity and fight against all terrorist organizations, especially DAESH. In line with this request, we are working to provide training, consultancy and technical support to increase Syria’s defense capacity.
Turkey’s primary objective is to support Syria’s political unity and territorial integrity and to lead efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region.”
