Türkiye Discovers 20 Billion Barrels of Oil Off Somalia‘s Coast Türkiye has made a major energy breakthrough with the discovery of approximately 20 billion barrels of oil off the coast of Som.alia, according to official sources.

The find was made by the Oruc Reis, a Turkish seismic research vessel conducting offshore surveys in the region. The oil reserves are spread across three exploration blocks, with two blocks already confirmed to each contain about 10 billion barrels.


The third block remains under active survey, and further findings are anticipated. This discovery is expected to strengthen Türkiye’s strategic energy interests in Africa and deepen its partnership with Somalia.

Officials from both nations have indicated that the next steps will include detailed feasibility studies and negotiations for potential extraction and development.
