The Ministry of Industry and Technology has launched the “Call for the Development of a Domestic Nuclear Reactor” with the aim of enabling Turkey to produce its own nuclear reactor. This step, taken as part of the National Technology Initiative, aims to meet Turkey’s growing energy needs with domestic and carbon-free solutions.
-The project aims to reduce energy dependence on foreign sources and enhance energy security.
-The deadline for applications for the domestic reactor development call has been set as December 31, 2025.
The Ministry of Industry and Technology has launched the “Call for the Development of a Domestic Nuclear Reactor” with the aim of enabling Turkey to produce its own nuclear reactor. This step, taken within the scope of the National Technology Initiative, aims to meet Turkey’s growing energy needs with domestic and carbon-free solutions.
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated in his announcement that the project will strengthen energy security, reduce external dependency, and contribute to the net zero emissions target. Kacır said that high-tech reactors will be brought to the country with the contribution of Turkish industry’s production capabilities, TENMAK, TÜBİTAK, and universities.
Minister Kacır emphasized the importance of the project, saying, “Turkey is paving its own way in nuclear energy technologies; it is consolidating its independence and power.” Applications for the call can be submitted until December 31, 2025, via “rip.sanayi.gov.tr.”
