Once a strong ally of YPG (SDF), US now greenlights a Turkish military operation on the terrorist organization, which doesn’t want to integrate with Syrian army and dissolve its self-proclaimed autonomous region.
According to Syrian Foreign Ministry sources:
Turkey has informed Damascus that it has reached an understanding with Tom Barrack, the US special envoy to Syria, on a military solution against the PKK/YPG terrorist organization.
The US prefers Turkey to lead any military operation to avoid chaos.
The International Coalition will not directly attack either the YPG or Syrian government forces.
Given the YPG’s refusal to integrate into the Syrian army, the US is now discussing the military option.
If the YPG continues to refuse to integrate, the operation will be considered a “last resort”.
Tom Barrack demanded that Turkey seize certain strategic points with ground troops and airstrikes.
The coalition will intensify its operations to prevent Daesh attacks.
The US rejects tribal forces because it is difficult to distinguish between these groups and Daesh due to the lack of leadership.
The US goal is a clean, fast and orderly operation without irregular militias.
