Azerbaijan to join KAAN fighter project

Azerbaijan has decided to cooperate with Turkey for the KAAN Fighter Aircraft developed within the scope of the National Combat Aircraft Program.

The National Combat Aircraft Program, initiated by the Presidency of the Presidency of Defense Industries, continues under the main contractorship of TAI. The KAAN Fighter Jet, developed within the scope of the program, is planned to make its first flight at the end of this year.


Azerbaijan has taken a critical decision for the KAAN Fighter Jet, which has recently started ground tests. In line with the decision taken, Turkey and Azerbaijan will cooperate for the development of the National Fighter Aircraft KAAN.

The ‘National Combat Aircraft Development Cooperation Signing Ceremony’ will be held tomorrow on the margins of IDEF’23. At the signing ceremony, which will be witnessed by Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of Defence Industries, the agreement will be signed between the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence and TAI.
