Gaziantep exports more goods than 40 Turkish cities do

Gaziantep is a city located in southern Türkiye. With more than 2,5 million population, the city is the center of delicious meals in the country. Kebap, baklava, lahmacun and many other famous Turkish meals originate from this city.

However, what makes Gaziantep distinctive is not only its food. Gaziantep’s hard-working businessmen and people export more than $10 billion worth goods annually. Among goods, textile products, food and agricultural products top the list.

A map circulating in social media shows that Gaziantep’s annual exports is equal to those of 40 other Turkish provinces.

The only negative aspect for Gaziantep’s industry is lack of high value products such as machinery, cars, defense products, etc. The city needs a transformation in production so that it can earn more from what it produces.
