Türkiye to cooperate with Canada for construction of new nuclear power plants

Turkish Energy Minister has received Canadian delegate for talks about Türkiye’s new nuclear power plants.

Bayraktar gave details in his X account as follow;

We continue our negotiations with the world’s leading companies regarding the large-scale nuclear power plants we plan to build in our country. In this context, we hosted Mr. Ian L. Edwards, President and CEO of Canada-based AtkinsRealis, which develops technology solutions on a global scale in the field of nuclear energy, and the accompanying delegation at our Ministry. During our meeting, we discussed cooperation opportunities of CANDU technology for the nuclear power plants we plan to build in Sinop and Thrace Region. We reached a mutual decision to start technical studies.

Canada had put embargoes on drone cameras previously on Turkish companies. Whether similar problems may rise in case of a nuclear cooperation is seen a gray point by some Turkish analysts.
