Klaus Juergens highlighted Türkiye’s transformation into a strategic defense power and criticized Western media’s hypocrisy over Gaza, praising Türkiye’s principled and independent global stance.

At the TRT World Forum, international policy expert Klaus Juergens underscored Türkiye’s emergence as a global defense leader producing and exporting its own military technology, a shift that has redefined its geopolitical influence. Citing recent high-level visits from the UK and Germany, he pointed to growing Western recognition of Türkiye as a key strategic partner. Turning to Gaza, Juergens condemned Western media’s long-standing bias toward Israel, calling Türkiye’s outspoken moral stance under President Erdoğan a vital corrective to global silence. He concluded that Türkiye’s strength now lies not only in defense but in its commitment to justice and ethical leadership on the world stage.

INTERVIEW | TRT World Forum – Klaus Juergens

At the TRT World Forum, international policy expert Klaus Juergens shared compelling insights on Türkiye’s rising defense industry and the Western media’s response to the war in Gaza.

Juergens emphasized that Türkiye has evolved from a regional actor into a strategic global partner:

“Türkiye is now producing and exporting its own defense technology. This transformation has completely reshaped its geopolitical position. It’s not only about defense anymore—it’s about trade, diplomacy, and global credibility.”

Referring to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s announcement of 20 Eurofighter Typhoon jets to be sold to Türkiye, followed shortly by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s visit to Ankara, Juergens described these as defining moments:

“Berlin’s decision to finally lift its hesitation over Türkiye’s Eurofighter acquisition marks a clear sign of deepening strategic cooperation,” he said.

In the second part of the discussion, Juergens turned to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Western media’s double standards:

“For far too long, Western outlets accepted Israel’s narrative without question. Now, with tens of thousands of innocent civilians killed, we are witnessing what many rightly call genocide. Türkiye’s clear and principled stance has become a moral wake-up call.”

Juergens described President Erdoğan’s speech at the Forum as an act of true leadership:

“Many European politicians and media outlets realized the truth far too late. Türkiye’s strong, consistent voice is shifting the global moral balance.”

Concluding his remarks, Juergens expressed cautious optimism:

“From defense to media, Türkiye is asserting itself not just for national interests but for the principle of justice itself. That is the most human dimension of strategic partnership.”
