Turkish newspaper Milliyet’s editor Özay Şendir writes in his today’s article about how Israel tries the PKK not to disarm itself.
Below is a part from his article;
Israel does not want order in Syria; if possible, it wants to break up Syria’s territorial integrity as well.
They do not hide these intentions.
The narrative they sell to the world is simple: if the Islamist government in Damascus succeeds and establishes its own army, it could become a threat to Israel.
This week, Israel took two significant steps to achieve its goals.
First, they began drilling for oil in the Golan Heights, which they have occupied since 1967.
Whether or not they find oil, I don’t know, but with this drilling, they sent a message to all groups in Syria that they intend to remain in the region permanently.
Then, they drew some Druze groups to their side.
Again, there are those whom they employ in the Golan and to whom they provide security guarantees in other regions.
Israel’s Syria strategy is visible in the south of the country, but we should also look closely at what’s happening in the north.
The YPG is signaling that it might withdraw from the agreement it signed with the Damascus administration.
Groups close to the Barzani family in Syria are also putting pressure on the YPG in this regard.
As things stand, attention turns to northern Iraq.
It’s no secret that some figures within the KDP have ties with Mossad.
We’re talking about relationships that go back to the past, strengthened when Molla Mustafa Barzani was hosted at Mossad headquarters.
In the past six months, I thought the debates about Öcalan’s leadership on intelligence sites close to the KDP were just about the results of the Kurdish leadership struggle, but now I have reasons to think there’s more to it.
Just as Israel does not want a strong Syria, it also does not want a terror-free Turkey.
As Ankara gets closer to this goal, all influence agents are activated.
At this point, the possibility that the struggle may simply turn into an Öcalan-Israel confrontation is now on the table.
This will be a fierce fight, because at a time when Israel was bombing hospitals in Gaza, representatives of PKK-affiliated NGOs in Europe were making statements in Tel Aviv supporting Israel.
In other words, Mossad has infiltrated not only northern Iraq but also the PKK’s European structure.
Now is the time for clear choices.
Will northern Iraq, northern Syria, and the European structure of the terrorist organization, who have called Öcalan their “leader” for years, side with Öcalan or with Israel? We will live and see…
