PKK member Osman Öcalan dies due to Covid-19

Osman Öcalan, brother of the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, died due to the coronavirus.

According to the information obtained by Rûdaw, Osman Öcalan died today at 04:30 in the morning.


Osman Öcalan was being treated in the intensive care unit at a hospital in Erbil for a while.

Osman Öcalan, living in the Kurdistan Region, had completely lost his mobility and speaking ability due to cerebral palsy he suffered in July 2021.

Osman Öcalan is expected to be buried in the Kurdistan Region.

Osman Öcalan, the younger brother of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, was born in 1958 in the village of Ömerli in the Halfeti district of Urfa.

Before joining the PKK, which was founded in 1978, he lived in Libya for 2 years and studied at a teacher training college.

He joined the Central Committee of the PKK in 1986. Osman Öcalan settled in Erbil in 2004 after allegedly leaving the PKK.
