Spain will replace its F-5 training aircraft with 45 HÜRJETs, in a deal valued at nearly €3.7 billion.
The Spanish Council of Ministers has officially chosen the Turkish-made HÜRJET as the new jet training platform to replace the F-5M aircraft in the inventory of the Spanish Air and Space Force.
Under the decision, formal approval was granted for the procurement of up to 45 HÜRJETs.
The procurement process is expected to take effect in 2028, when the first deliveries are scheduled to begin. The project aims to modernize Spain’s pilot training capabilities and establish a next-generation training infrastructure that meets NATO standards.
According to the Spanish government’s statement, the total procurement package will be worth approximately €3.68 billion, covering not only the aircraft but also training simulators, maintenance infrastructure, and spare parts packages.
