Turkey sends aid to over 20 countries

Turkey has received medical aid requests from more than seventy countries and helped more than twenty of them to tackle with corona virus contagion. While the first receiver of the Turkish help was China, it also evacuated Azerbaijani, Albanian and Georgian citizens together with Turks from Wuhan, China in February. It then sold 50,000 masks, 100,000 protective garments and 100,000 safety goggles to Bulgaria and sent aid to Hungary in the first half of March. Besides, it helped Northern Cyprus and Palestine in the second half of March and simultaneously sent 26.000 test kits to Colombia.

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca also stated in late March that the Turkish government sent 500.000 test kits to the United States. Turkey also helped Kosovo and The Philippines (via IHH Humanitarian Aid Association). Moreover, 30.000 masks were dispatched to KRG and disinfection materials were shipped to Yemen and Indonesia.

Finally, Turkish Ministry of National Defence sent health supplies consisting of masks, overalls and anti-bacterial fluids, produced domestically in the Defence Ministry’s factories and sewing facilities with local resources by TAF aircraft to Italy and Spain to combat COVID-19 in April. More aid is expected to be shipped to the requesting countries in upcoming days.
