Turkish schools to give financial literacy courses to students

Turkish Education Minister Yusuf Tekin has announced that students will take financial literacy in schools. Those studying in primary, secondary and high schools has started to attend the course, Tekin informed.

Tekin said “with the Financial Literacy course, we aimed to raise our students’ awareness of the financial risks of the digital world”.


“Our students were informed not only about virtual dangers but also about topics such as budget planning and effective use of resources”. he added.

Majority of Turkish people do not know how to manage their savings. So many people went bankrupt due to wrong decisions. Analysts say acting with prior knowledge in financial markets will help people to steer their savings more efficiently. Starting to learn financial literacy will get students prepared to future risks, they add.
