Roketsan set to mass produce LG-155 laser guided artillery ammunition

Mass production period begins for LG-155 Laser Guided Artillery Ammunition. Turkish 155mm howitzers will now use guided ammunition. Murat İkinci, General Manager of Roketsan, made statements about the LG-155 155mm Laser Guided Ammunition, whose development activities are nearing the end. Answering the questions of SavunmaSanayiST, İkinci emphasized that the mass production process of the ammunition is about to begin.

The laser-guided ammunition was first introduced during Saha Expo 2024. Stating that the tests of the ammunition are continuing successfully, İkinci announced that the mass production process will begin shortly.

İkinci made the following statements: “The tests are continuing successfully. In fact, we will start mass production of the LG-155 in a very short time. It has a special feature: In fact, as you know, the most striking force of our armed forces and many major armed forces in the international arena is the artillery units in the field, and artillery units use 155 round ammunition a lot. Without making any changes to these existing weapon systems, we will be able to hit the target point by point, which is actually the biggest problem, with the newly developed laser-guided 155 rounds.”

Stating that joint work is being carried out with the Machinery and Chemical Industry (MKE) during the production process of the LG-155, İkinci said that the ammunition will be actively used in the field as soon as possible and its effectiveness will be tested.

İkinci said, “We are working together with Makina Kimya on this issue. Hopefully, we will also carry out their production together. We will see it in the field as soon as possible, and we evaluate that we will witness its effectiveness closely in many armed forces, especially in our armed forces, which use this technology.”

LG-155 has a 25 km maximum range.
