Turkish national oil company TPAO has won the right to conduct hydrocarbon exploration activities both offshore and onshore with its bid for the Libya oil and natural gas tender.

TPAO will carry out its activities in the open seas of Libya through a consortium formed with Repsol and MOL Group. The consortium will conduct hydrocarbon exploration activities in a block located off the coast of Benghazi, which has a strategic position in the Mediterranean Sea and covers an area of approximately 10,300 square kilometers.

On land, TPAO will carry out exploration activities in the licensed area in the Sirte Basin together with Repsol. Turkiye will evaluate new discovery opportunities in an area of 8,200 square meters in this region, which is one of Libya’s most productive hydrocarbon basins.
