Turkish Aerospace General Manager Mehmet Demiroglu told Breaking Defense that the decision-making process for Saudi Arabia’s participation in the KAAN fighter program is in its final stages.
The company aims to reach a significant milestone this year, potentially starting with a sale of approximately 20 aircraft. Alternatively, the partnership could involve local production, which would require a commitment of at least 50 planes to justify a final assembly line in Saudi Arabia.
Demiroglu noted that future sixth-generation projects would likely involve even larger quantities given the scale of the Saudi market. This cooperation marks a potential shift toward deeper industrial sharing between the two nations.
