Türkiye’s May exports rose by 15.2%, reaching $19 billion

Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) announced export data for May 2022. In May, exports amounted to 19 billion dollars with an increase of 15 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. With this figure, the highest May export figure in the history of the republic was reached, and a monthly record was recorded in 19 of the last 21 months.

15 sectors increased their exports in May. The Chemicals and Products Sector, which realized an export of 2.8 billion dollars with an increase of 31 percent, took the first place in the sectors with the highest export, while the Automotive Industry, which reached 2.3 billion dollars with an increase of 22.4 percent, was the second with an export of 1.9 billion dollars with an increase of 11 percent. The Steel Industry came in third.


While 54 provinces increased their exports in May, the first 3 provinces with the most exports were Istanbul with 7.5 billion dollars, Kocaeli with 1.6 billion dollars and Bursa with 1.2 billion dollars.

Having succeeded in waving the Turkish flag in 217 countries and regions, the export family succeeded in increasing its exports to 145 countries. The top 3 countries with the highest exports in May were Germany with 1.5 billion dollars, the USA with 1.3 billion dollars and Iraq with 1 billion dollars.

1.485 companies joined the export family by exporting for the first time this month.

The positive momentum in export unit price continues. The unit export value increased by 30.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and rose to $1.47.
