Meteksan Defence has signed a new international collaboration at IDEX 2025, the International Defence Exhibition and Conference held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which is the largest event in the region and one of the world’s leading defense industry exhibitions.
The company has signed a contract with ADASI, a subsidiary of EDGE—one of the world’s leading advanced technology and defense groups—operating in the field of autonomous systems and services, to integrate MILSAR radars into the GARMOOSHA UAV.
This integration will provide GARMOOSHA with new capabilities for detecting and tracking potential targets.
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Moving Target Indicator (MTI) radars remain indispensable sensors for reconnaissance and surveillance aircraft as well as satellites, as they can continue to provide high-resolution imagery even in weather conditions where electro-optical sensors are ineffective.
Designed for air platforms used in intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, suppression, and attack operations, MILSAR enables UAVs—acting as “observation points” in the sky with long mission durations—to remain effective even in adverse weather conditions or while flying above cloud cover, where electro-optical systems fail.
The radar has low volume, weight, and power consumption, making it suitable as a payload for tactical-class UAVs.
MILSAR STANDS OUT FROM ITS COUNTERPARTS
Thanks to advanced technology and innovative architectural approaches, MILSAR has been made lighter and more compact, allowing it to operate within the power capacity of a tactical UAV, distinguishing it from its counterparts.
With a weight of under 30 kilograms, long-range high-resolution imaging capability, and easy platform integration, MILSAR is among the most valuable payload options for UAVs.
The radar, which detects and tracks potential targets using its Moving Target Indicator (MTI) modes, also features Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) modes for high-resolution radar imaging, target classification, and terrain topography generation under all weather conditions.
GARMOOSHA, on the other hand, is an advanced rotary-wing UAV designed for tactical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions. It is the first fully UAE-made UAV in its class.
