ZARA’s complicity with the Israeli regime is older than the genocide in Gaza. In October 2022, Joey Schwebel, president of Trimera Brands, ZARA’s Israeli franchisee, hosted a party at his home as a campaign event for far-right Israeli Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, according to BDS France.
Ben-Gvir has openly called for the expulsion of Palestinians, for shooting civilians, and for withholding humanitarian aid from Gaza. He was also cited in the case brought before the International Court of Justice, which concluded that ‘Israel’ was likely committing genocide. Following this event, Ben-Gvir praised ZARA in a tweet: “ZARA, beautiful clothes, beautiful Israelis.”
