Israeli officials, media and even ordinary people have launched a campaign against Türkiye, claiming that Erdogan said he will invade Israel. Turkish officials denied that Erdoğan had threatened to invade Israel after international outlets circulated a quote from an earlier speech in which Erdoğan referenced Türkiye’s past interventions in Libya and Karabakh. Turkey’s Communications Directorate called the invasion-threat framing entirely unfounded, and at least one major outlet that had reported the claim later deleted its story.
A short investigation conducted by Straturka reveals that Türkiye’s anti-Israeli rhetoric is actually an echo to Israel’s threatening language. From prime ministers to former Mossad staff, many Israelis have overtly declared Türkiye as enemy and the next target after Iran. Seeing Israel’s enmity, Erdogan and his aides like Hakan Fidan have responded with the same tone. However, Israeli side tries to market the responsive statements as a threat by Türkiye. Turkish side, on the other hand, underlines that they will respond militarily only if Israel dares to attack Türkiye.
In addition, Israel deliberately demonizes Türkiye to convince American administration that if advanced weapons are sold to Turkish army, it will be attacked by Türkiye. On the other hand, Netanyahu acknowledged that it is all because they don’t to lose air superiority in the region.
Also, while Israel claims that Türkiye will destroy Israel or any other country in the region is baseless, Israeli history, particularly the last three years, shows that Israel’s possession of advanced weapons led to a genocide in Gaza, war with Iran, bombardment of eight countries and occupation territories of at least three countries. Thus, it can be concluded that Israel must not have F-35 fighters and other advanced arms as it uses to kill people indiscriminately.
While Israel is expected to acquire new weapons thanks to its lobby power, the world audience must be aware that if Israel is blaming someone with a crime, it is because the said country has potential to stop Israel’s brutality.
