Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received Iraqi Prime Minister Zaidi in Ankara. Erdogan have details of meeting in his Twitter account. Below is Erdogan’s tweet:
Today in Ankara, I met with the Prime Minister of Iraq, my dear brother Mr. Ali Zeidi, and his delegation, and we signed documents that will further advance our relations on a foundation of brotherhood.
We have never separated, and will never separate, the peace and stability of Iraq from the situation in our own country.
We are striving to ensure that our region is no longer associated with war, terror, and conflict, but with development, prosperity, peace, and stability.
We are in close dialogue with our Iraqi brothers to make our “Terror-Free Turkey” process and our “Terror-Free Region” vision a reality.
God willing, we will permanently remove this issue, which has cost both countries dearly, from our agenda.
On the other hand, we are ready to do our part in supplying Iraq with the defense industry products it needs.
This war environment compels us to deepen our cooperation not only in defense but also in energy and transportation.
We see that the Development Route Project, which is based on connecting the Gulf region to the world via Iraq, has become more important than ever in light of current developments.
Another important area of our cooperation is energy.
Turkish Petroleum has been granted a partnership in the Kirkuk production field, operated by BP.
The agreement signed today is a historic step in terms of partnership in the energy sector.
As two neighboring countries affected by climate change, we are fully committed to advancing our cooperation towards the sustainable use of water.
We want to take our trade volume with Iraq, which approached $17 billion last year, to much higher levels.
I thank Mr. Zeydi for his visit and hope that our consultations and decisions will be fruitful.
