Defense Industry Expert Prof. Dr. Abdullah Çavuşoğlu explained the features of Türkiye’s first ICBM YILDIRIMHAN to Sabah newspaper:
“A range of 6,000 km means you can hit many capital cities in the world, except for the US and China!”
“What does a speed of 25 Mach mean? It means 1200 km x 25, which is almost circling the globe at 30,000 km per hour (by the way, the circumference of the Earth is 42,000 km).”
“So, is it meaningful to carry 3 tons of explosives in the warhead? If you don’t have nuclear capabilities, it doesn’t seem very meaningful, but the global conjuncture now shows that the era of ‘borrowed’ nuclear weapons is approaching.”
“We will achieve a nuclear effect with conventional ammunition.”
Defense Industry Expert Prof. Dr. Abdullah Çavuşoğlu evaluated the features of YILDIRIMHAN, Türkiye’s intercontinental ballistic missile with a range of 6,000 kilometers, for SABAH.
Prof. Dr. Çavuşoğlu stated, “What does the Yıldırımhan missile mean? A range of 6000 km means you can hit many capitals around the world, except for the US and China. We will achieve a nuclear effect with conventional ammunition.”
Prof. Dr. Çavuşoğlu reminded that the “YILDIRIMHAN,” which has the characteristic of being a hypersonic missile, has the ability to overcome existing air and missile defense systems thanks to its capacity to reach speeds ranging from Mach 9 to 25, adding, “So what does 25 Mach speed mean? It means 1200 km x 25 per hour, which is almost circling the globe at 30,000 km in one hour (by the way, the circumference of the Earth is 42,000 km).”
Prof. Dr. Abdullah Çavuşoğlu continued:
“Is it meaningful to carry 3 tons of explosives in the warhead? If you don’t have nuclear capabilities, it doesn’t seem very meaningful, but the global conjuncture now indicates that the era of ‘borrowed’ nuclear weapons is approaching.”
“(Like a Turkey-Pakistan Pact). Even if not nuclear, consider a 3-ton version of Turkey’s thermobaric bomb (a 1-ton bomb that consumes oxygen in the environment and has almost nuclear effects!), a product that goes far beyond the capabilities of conventional bombs. I think the issue is clear.”
Türkiye’S INTERCONTINENTAL BALLISTIC MISSILE YILDIRIMHAN: RANGE OF 6,000 KM
The “YILDIRIMHAN,” a hypersonic missile, has the capacity to reach speeds ranging from Mach 9 to Mach 25, giving it the ability to overcome existing air and missile defense systems.
Using liquid nitrogen tetroxide as fuel, the missile is propelled by 4 rocket engines.
A critical force multiplier within the framework of modern warfare doctrines, the system restricts the opponent’s early warning and interception capabilities by providing access to the target area with its combination of high speed and maneuverability.
“YILDIRIMHAN” stands out from its counterparts with its liquid rocket fuel and the 3,000 kilograms of explosives it carries.
