Türkiye to provide drones to Egypt

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan is set to travel to Egypt on Feb. 14 to meet counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to complete normalization process.

Before Erdoğan’s visit, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan disclosed that Türkiye will provide unmanned aerial vehicles and other technologies to Egypt. Which brand of drones and how many units are yet to be learned.

Egypt had ordered Anka drones before al-Sisi had come to power but the order was cancelled due to severed relations.

The deal comes after Israel brutally attacked Gaza. Egypt and other regional countries feel defenseless against Israel’s aggression and believe that they may not receive weapons from western countries in case of a likely war against Israel.
