Israel passes a law to televise execution of Palestinians

Jerusalem – In a dramatic escalation of its judicial policies, Israel has passed two laws instituting the death penalty within the span of six weeks and is allocating hundreds of millions of dollars to carry out executions of Palestinians on live television, according to a report from the media outlet Mondoweiss.

The organization cited the unanimous support for the legislation as evidence that “Israeli society can unite around ‘death to Palestinians’.” The reports indicate that the new legal framework is being paired with a substantial financial investment aimed at broadcasting the executions, marking a significant and unprecedented shift in policy.

Officials and political analysts have yet to comment on the specifics of the implementation or the legal challenges such a move would likely face. The claims have already begun to stir strong reactions internationally, as human rights organizations and foreign governments are expected to respond to the potential for public executions.
