The Monsieurs (Monşer in Turkish- those aspiring Western culture) are very uncomfortable with Turkey’s active foreign policy from Karabakh to Libya, from Somalia to Qatar. The steps Turkey has taken in these geographies and the games it has disrupted have upset the monsieurs.
As you know, monsieur is a concept used by our people to describe certain diplomats who look down on citizens, who are out of touch with the values and interests of their country and who look at Turkey as a foreigner.
From the very beginning of Westernization, our people referred to this group of people who thought they were Westerners with nicknames such as “Sweetwater Syphilis” and “monşer”.
They were described as “Mankurt” by Cengiz Aitmatov and “Garbzede” by Celal Ali Ahmet.
Monsieursim is a reflection of a mentality. Do not think that monsieurs are only found among some members of the Foreign Ministry.
This group, which we face in the entire Islamic world, manifests itself in all fields from academia to businessmen, from journalists to the civil-military bureaucracy.
The general attitude of the monsieurs is “Let’s not spoil the taste of our mouths, brother; let’s not fall out with Europeans, Westerners, America, Israel; let’s give them whatever they want. We cannot pursue an independent policy, we cannot develop technology. In foreign policy, let’s follow the Westerners, in technology, let’s be content with the assembly industry. No original thought or idea in academia, culture or art can come from us; let us copy the West.”
Monsieurs denigrate Turkey’s steps in Libya by saying “What are we doing in Libya?”. They denigrate Turkey’s role in the liberation of Karabakh by saying, “Turkey is taking jihadists to Karabakh.” They are disturbed by Turkey’s increasing the number of its embassies in Africa. Or they try to belittle Turkey’s steps in the defense industry.
The fact that they cry and whine is the biggest proof that Turkey is on the right path.
